Commited.

Committed to what you ask? To the crazy house… because I am now fully committed to running my first marathon!

I know…I can’t believe it either!

Before I go on and on about how crazy I really am, let me clear up a few things first. I’ve heard a few jokes recently that bloggers running a marathon is a huge stereotype. I don’t particularly enjoy being stereotyped and I wouldn’t want anyone else to be either because all of us bloggers are so very unique! And I hope no one out there thinks 26.2 miles is a joke, if so it’s a terrifying one. Regardless, here’s my defense.

The sole reason I even know what a blog is started with my love of food, the first blog I ever read was Mel’s Kitchen, she has amazing no-fail recipes! About a year after I started using blogs to find recipes I signed up to run the 2010 Disney Princess Half Marathon, at the time I was a self-proclaimed non-runner. Since I’m OCD I immediately started researching running and what kinds of foods I should be eating and I stumbled upon The Runner’s Kitchen. I loved it! Megan is a super fast runner, something I’ll never be, but I ended up falling in love with her blog because she tells it like it is, shares yummy recipes, and lives in NYC, which I’m fascinated with. Through her blog roll page I happened upon other blogs and was hooked on reading them, until that faithful day I realized…My life is actually interesting enough to blog about, some days.

To conclude my rant I wanted to let it be known that last year after finishing my half marathon I made a few future goals:

1. Run the Disney Princess Half again, check!

2. Do a sprint triathlon in 2011, still working on that one.

3. Run a full marathon in 2012 since it’s the year I graduate from college, already spent the $$$ there’s no turning back now!

I’m very happy that I committed myself but am currently having trouble wrapping my mind around the fact that I will be running for at least 5 hours straight, since I’m pokey. My goal is not at all time related though, instead I want  to put my best effort into training, finish without injuries, and have fun, of course!

Sorry if I got a little defensive  but I just wanted it to be clear that  my intentions are not to ‘copy’ anyone but to challenge myself. A.k.a. committing to running this marathon means I’m also committing myself to running and strength training, if I don’t do these things I won’t be able to finish…and I may be slow but I don’t like failing. Consider me officially in marathon training until January 8, 2012!

Look what finally started coming as of yesterday! and it was perfect timing! Off to do a little reading before bed=)

Questions for You!

What are you currently committed to?

Are you a runner? What is the farthest you’ve run? I’m only to 13.1 so far=/

What are your favorite magazine? I love Glamour, Cosmo, Food Network, and Cooking Light. Basically I just love magazines.

  1. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

I am committed to practicing hard enough to perform a perfect routine at my last college cheerleading nationals ever in three weeks, ahh!

I run occasionally if I feel the need to speed or a good cardio workout, but I also like to swim, bike, ect.

I read magazines like Seventeen, Good Housekeeping, Cooking Light, and Cosmopolitan (complete trash, I know)

  2. Whoa! Congrats! So exciting!!! I’m a runner – my furthest distance is a half-marathon and no plans of a full marathon within the near future : ) I do, however, have plans to do my first Olympic-length Triathlon this summer so I’m excited about that!

  3. Congrats! That’s so exciting 🙂 I wish you good luck and I know you can do it! Don’t worry about time, it is all about finishing. I am hoping to do one in the near future but I still need the courage to pick one!

  4. You are so right. Running is serious business not an ongoing bandwagon everyone can jump onto. I am committed to run my first 5K race in May!

Congrats on the Marathon sign up!

  5. I think its fabulous that you signed up for the disney marathon! If I was going to do one, it would be that one! It is the happiest place on earth, after all 🙂
I have run 14 miles, but that was pre-knee issues two years ago…I would love to be able to run again!
I feel like I’m not committed fully to anything right now…but I’m working on that!

  6. Awesome!! Congrats on signing up… you’re going to be great!

I’m running my first half-marathon in May, which I’m really excited about…so far the farthest I’ve run at once is 10 miles.

    • I can’t wait to see your blog coverage on your first marathon…and wedding! Girl you’ve got some energy…which is why I’d love to say I’d run with you at the marathon but you’d smoke me=)
