Best.Boyfriend.Ever.

As my title suggests I have the best boyfriend ever. Obviously you’ve already seen that Rob is a pretty great guy but he did something epic on our way home from Alabama…he took me to Trader Joe’s!!!!!!

This is my excited face!

You may be thinking to yourself, “What’s the big deal, he took you to a grocery store?” Well… I just happen to have this weird love for grocery stores, especially Trader Joe’s unfortunately there is only one in Florida and it’s in Miami, 5 hours away. The closest Trader Joe’s to Birmingham was right smack dab in the middle of Atlanta and by the time we left on Friday that would have had us arriving in Atlanta just in time for rush hour. There was a decision to be made. Rob asked me my excited-ness on a scale of 1-10 and I said a 9…so we went! With the knowledge that if we sat in traffic and made our 9 hour trip home even longer it would be on my shoulders. However I decided to comfort myself with the thought that even if we did get stuck in traffic and Rob was furious that I would at the very least have lots of yummy food and feeding him usually makes him much happier!

In case you were wondering or if you weren’t I’m going to tell you anyway where my love for Trader Joe’s came from I’ll tell you a little story. I had just finished my freshman year at UCF and had begun my venture into healthy eating and exercise when my aunt Erin and grandparents came to their timeshare in Cocoa Beach, which they’ll be doing again in a week, with then they brought Trader Joe’s goodies in the form of…

All incredibly healthy foods right? Not! But like I said I was in the very beginnings of my healthy living adventure. Also I’d like to note it’s not my fault I’m addicted to processed foods, I’m a product of my generation but more about that tomorrow! Back to my story! Ever since that summer my aunt Erin has been sweet enough to bring me some Trader Joe’s products and my Mom and Dad have both won best parent ever awards by taking me to Trader Joe’s . There is one in Nashville 45 minutes away from where my Dad lives so he took me there this summer. Which resulted in another excited picture!

My Mom took me to a snowy Trader Joe’s while we were visiting Pennsylvania over winter break. My stepdad decided to tag along and let’s just say he was a little than excited when we realized we’d driven 30 minutes in the snow to a grocery store. Which unfortunately meant my time was limited…but this was the faithful trip when I discovered my beloved Soyaki!

I was seriously getting nervous at how low my bottle was getting! Now I have no worries and will make all the quinoa/brown rice/ couscous and roasted vegetable bowls as I want!

Rob was very sweet and allotted me 40 minutes on our stop in Atlanta friday night. I assured him that even though I can spend at least an hour in Publix or Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s is much simpler, I could easily stay within my time constraints and did!

Blurry...but you can see the pure joy going on in the moment!

I’m starting a Trader Joe’s bag collection…Red=Nashville, TN, Blue=Princeton, NJ, and Orangish=Atlanta, GA (it was also free because Trader Joe’s employees rock!)
I couldn’t resist the white cheddar puffs, I tried and failed.
No. I don’t put sauce on everything I eat. But I had to stock up while I could. I’m hoping I like them=)
These didn’t make it all the way back to my apartment without being broken into!

Time for bed since this springing forward crud has now completely wrecked havoc on whatever excuse for a bedtime routine I had… but I will get up and work out tomorrow morning. See…now I have to because I told you all I would!

Questions for You!

Do you have a Trader Joe’s near you? I know lots of you do since you’re constantly making me horribly jealous by blogging about all the great goodies you get there.

What is your favorite TJ’s product?

Any suggestions for recipes I could make with my loot?

  1. i am lucky enough to have a trader joe’s in my town! my mom lives 2.5 hours away and they don’t have one nearby, so anytime i go home, i stop at trader joe’s and pick up her favorite products from her! 🙂

some of my tj’s faves are: the HUMMUS! oh the hummus. i love their edamame and horseradish ones. i also love the general tso’s sauce, their frozen seafood blend, their pizzas, their pre-made refrigerated pizza dough, and sooooo much more!

  2. hey pretty lady! you make me smile 🙂 i’m exactly the same about health stores. Unfortunately the only Whole Foods in the UK are found in London and I live in Newcastle! Yep…all the way up the country! I’m happy for you that you got to stock up! 🙂 xo

  3. Ah that’s so cool you got to stop in TJ’s! I’ve been in one once in VA but I don’t really remember it – I wish they would build some in Orlando!

  4. Nice stuff! And nice boyfriend for taking you 🙂

We have a few TJ’s around where I live. I love the Puffins cereal and the shelled edamame from there. Oh, and these really good chicken sausages things that I can’t find anywhere else, although you wouldn’t like those 🙂

    • I’m sure the chicken sausage is awesome! I’m not one of those vegetarians who doesn’t think meat is good..I do but it was never my favorite, that’s all! Rob loves chicken sausage much more than my “soysage”. That is what he calls it…it cracks me up!

  5. Cranberry Orange Scones… Chocholate Chip Scones…Strawberry Yogurt Drinks…SnapPea Snacks… the list goes on and on. I’ve always wondered what kind of awesome clothes a Trader Joe’s would sell if they sold clothes and I’m pretty sure they could move some sweet beach cruisers if they added them to the stock.

    • The cinnamon scones were good but I was regretting not getting the ones you mentioned…I feel in love when them when you brought them during Thanksgiving! Thank you for igniting my love for Trader Joe’s…can’t wait to see you in 5 days! Also Rob agrees that they could sell beach cruisers and I would buy a TJ’s shirt right now!

  6. Grace this is so much fun! +10 points to Rob for taking you to one of the greatest places on earth! 🙂 Loooove Trader Joe’s! I love everything they have and the best part is that it isn’t ridiculously expensive!

  7. ooh, that wins a lot of boyfriend points, for sure! I don’t know what I’d do without TJs. I think I like their natural crunchy PB the best, though the cilantro-jalapeno hummus comes in a close second. 🙂

  8. Grocery shopping is so exciting! I love finding new things! My favorite things from Trader Joes that you must try are the meatless meatballs (trust me!) and broccoli slaw (its great to use instead of lettuce for salads or in wraps). Let me know if you try them! Yay for trader joes 🙂

  9. I love Trader Joes too and your excited pictures in front of the stores are too cute! It stinks that there is not one closer here in Orlando though :/. My aunt lives in Atlanta so whenever we visit a trip to Trader Joes is a must. I am moving to Chicago in the next few months and am really excited that there are Trader Joes up there!
I like the fig and blueberry breakfast bars. I am heading to Chicago next week to find an apartment and definitely plan on picking up some new things too!
